Really good hotel - a nice break for me after campsites! I spent 4 nights here and the room was good, a great view over the Nile. Cold beers, good food and entertainment on the terrace on some evenings. They have shuttle bus into town (I had my car so didn't use). Staff are very helpful. I'd stay here longer but I have a long drive to South Africa and leave for Sudan tomorrow! |

Comfortable and clean:
This hotel is comfortable and clean. The food is good and the people are very kind. We came in the Ramadan period, but there were alcoholic drinks for us available. You do not find this in all the hotels during the Ramadan. The view is magnificent. You overview the Nile from your room. The swimming pool is nice (and necessary) refreshment. The pool is open for 24 hours, so you can take a swim every time of the day.
The hotel is not directly in the center of Aswan (though very close), but they offer you a free ride every houre (and back).

After an extensive two week travel through Egypt with a tour, my wife and I had another five days to spend. We decided to go to Aswan and asked our agent in Cairo to find us a quite place, away from the town center. We ended up at Sara Hotel, situated on a cliff on the East bank of the Nile, South of the city. Virtually all of the rooms have breath-taking views of the river, the natural reserve and numerous islands of
the first cataract. The rooms are clean, the hotel staff very friendly. They
were able to organize for us trips to local sights and to some of the well know temples north of the city at short notice. It takes about half an hour to reach the Nile Corniche by foot from the hotel, but there is courtesy hourly minibus service to town throughout the day and into the evening.

Towards the end of my 2 1/2 months traveling I stayed in the Sara Hotel. It was a well needed delight having been camping for most of the trip. The large room was wonderful with a huge comfortable bed, a spotless bathroom with good pressure and loads of hot water and a balcony overlooking the spectacular view of the Nile and desert. Therese a good sized clean pool - very refreshing in the heat, with lots of sun lounges and chairs, a great place to meet fellow travellers!
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and smiley!! And what can I say about Mr Helmy, he made me feel extremely welcome and treated me to a delicious complimentary tea whilst watching the sunset from the sun terrace. Bliss after a long day! He also kindly let me check out late as my train wasn't till the afternoon. I had a free shuttle bus (which runs every hour) that took me straight to the station.
The only thing that I found wrong was that the TV remote didn't work properly and there was no satellite TV, but who goes traveling to watch TV...
I've not stayed in many hotels on my trip but this one has excelled in comparison to some. |

Stayed here for a week while passing through Egypt - it was a very nice surprise to find very clean rooms in good order - bright, airy with air-con.
The cleaning staff do a great job and all of the hotel staff are really friendly, and the manager was especially helpful in assisting with some business we needed to attend to in our onward travel.
Our room had a nice view of the Nile, the swimming pool is spotless and large, there is a good bar and food - we were driving through Egypt and found the large guarded car park on site very useful. I would be more than happy to visit here again.
